An Indian restaurant boss who dreams of becoming a pilot has bought his own private aeroplane by paying for it with 500 curries and 1,000 poppadoms.
Shajahan Chowdhury, of Keighley, West Yorkshire, swapped the food for the shell of a 49ft Hawker Siddeley HS125 jet which he now plans to turn into a restaurant.
Aviation salvage company GJD Aerotech were happy to swap the ex-charter jet for 150 vindaloos, 150 Bombay Aloos, 100 onion bhajis and the poppadoms.
A promise of a further 200 tasty treats from Mr Chowdhury – who said he has cooked for the likes of Cliff Richard and the Spice Girls in the past – will follow on request.
