The AFRA Best Management PracticesEffective January 1, 2026, the Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association (AFRA) has released Revision 5.2 of the Best Management Practice (BMP) Guides for Management of Used Aircraft Parts and Assemblies for Disassembly and Recycling along with a new stand-alone BMP for Dismantling. These BMP Guides establish industry standards for the management and disassembly of used aircraft parts and assemblies, aircraft dismantling, and the recycling of aircraft materials at the end of their service life and are used together for audit preparation and AFRA accreditation, as applicable to each scope. BMP Documents and Supporting ResourcesDisassembly BMP | revision 5.2 | Effective January 1, 2026 Establishes requirements for the management, identification, traceability, and documentation of used aircraft parts and assemblies removed during disassembly activities.
Dismantling BMP | revision 0 | Effective January 1, 2026 Defines standards for the controlled dismantling and disposal of non-recoverable aircraft, including safety, environmental controls, and end-of-life documentation. Recycling BMP | revision 5.2 | Effective January 1, 2026 Outlines requirements for the environmentally responsible recycling and disposition of aircraft materials at the end of their service life.
