The Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association Board of Directors is responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight in support of AFRA’s mission and the advancement of the aviation end-of-service sector.
Eligibility
- Must be a representative of an AFRA member company in good standing (employee, officer, director or owner)
- Must be authorized to represent their organization within AFRA
- Must be able to serve the full term of office
Professional Experience
- Should be familiar with AFRA, ideally with involvement in one or more of AFRA’s standing committees or attendance at a previous AFRA Annual Conference.
- Demonstrated leadership through experience and/or professional involvement
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in aviation, including areas such as disassembly, recycling, MRO, leasing, or related sectors
- Strong understanding of industry practices and regulatory environment
- Familiarity with sustainability and circular economy principles is beneficial
Leadership and Governance
- Prior leadership, board, or committee experience preferred
- Ability to contribute to strategic planning and organizational development
- Willingness to engage in collaborative decision-making
Board Responsibilities
- Attend and actively participate in regularly scheduled meetings, and special events as able
- Review meeting materials in advance and contribute to discussions
- Participate on committees or working groups
- Support AFRA initiatives and strategic priorities
- Represent AFRA professionally within the industry
Board Participation/Time Commitment
- The Board of Directors meets approximately every six (6) weeks via teleconference
- Teleconference meetings are typically 60–90 minutes in duration
- At least one (1) in-person meeting is held annually
- Board members are expected to attend the AFRA Annual Conference and Annual Meeting
- Board members must serve on at least one (1) AFRA committee
- Participation in occasional ad hoc or impromptu meetings may be required
Board members should be willing to contribute to AFRA activities and initiatives, including but not limited to:
- Research and document review
- Speaker recruitment and conference support
- Serving as a committee liaison (e.g., BMP Development, Government Affairs, R&D, Marketing)
- Participation in ad hoc projects and assigned work efforts
Board Expectations
- Promote and support AFRA’s mission and programs to relevant stakeholders
- Become familiar with AFRA’s strategic plan, finances, budget, and resource needs
- Act in accordance with AFRA’s bylaws, policies, and procedures
- Understand and uphold fiduciary and legal responsibilities as a Board member
