aFRA Board of Directors Election

The election is for three (3) positions on the AFRA Board of Directors for the 2026–2029 term, in accordance with the AFRA Bylaws.

AFRA members in good standing may vote for up to three (3) individuals but may not submit multiple votes for the same individual. Only one (1) ballot per member company may be submitted.

The following individuals have been nominated for the AFRA Board of Directors election:


Cyndi Long

Site Operations Manager - Dismantling Facility

AerCap Materials


Cyndi brings over 37 years of experience in commercial aviation, having held roles with Cornerstone Air, The Memphis Group, GECAS Materials, and AerCap Materials. She has 21 years of experience in commercial spares trading and 16 years of hands-on experience in aircraft dismantling and recycling.

In her current role, Cyndi has successfully completed all AFRA Accreditation audits and has managed more than 200 commercial aircraft teardowns in Greenwood, including both internal and third-party projects, as well as over 100 off-site dismantling programs. She has extensive experience across all areas of dismantling and recycling operations.

Cyndi is a member of the International Aerospace Environmental Group (IAEG) and has been actively involved in AFRA initiatives and sub-groups focused on developing best practices, particularly in advancing recycling solutions for composite materials.


Lee McConnellogue

Chief Executive Officer

ecube

Lee joined ecube in 2022 to lead the company’s strategic growth across its operations in the UK, Spain, and the United States. With extensive experience in the aerospace sector, Lee has held senior leadership roles at Monarch Aircraft Engineering, Flybe, and Rolls-Royce PLC, where he served as Senior Vice President of Service Operations, overseeing large-scale operational performance, customer delivery, and global service strategy.

Throughout his career, Lee has demonstrated a strong track record in operational leadership, business transformation, and driving efficiency across complex aviation organizations. His experience spans MRO operations, airline engineering, and OEM service environments, providing him with a broad perspective on the aviation lifecycle.

Lee has served on AFRA’s Board of Directors since 2022 and has served as AFRA Treasurer since 2023, contributing to the organization’s strategic direction and financial oversight.


Colby Payne

Sales Director

Willis Aviation Services Limited

Colby is a commercially focused aviation professional with extensive experience across sales, business development, and operational delivery within the aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sector. In his current role as Sales Director at Willis Aviation Services, he leads global sales strategy across airframe MRO and disassembly activities, working closely with airlines, lessors, and cargo operators to drive revenue growth and maximise asset lifecycle value.

He has a proven track record of delivering commercial success and has played a central role in securing major contracts, including contributing to the Boeing E7 Wedgetail programme. He was also instrumental in the growth of STS Aviation Services UK from a start-up operation to a £70M revenue business. His experience spans contract negotiation, pricing strategy, market analysis, and building high-performing commercial teams. His background combines both operational delivery and commercial leadership, with experience at STS Aviation Services and Monarch Aircraft Engineering, where he developed a strong understanding of maintenance operations, project execution, and stakeholder management.

A key part of his current focus is supporting the evolving aircraft end-of-life market, including disassembly, asset recovery, and the increasing importance of sustainable practices within the aviation sector. Through his work, he engages closely with stakeholders navigating the challenges of ageing fleets, material reuse, and maximizing residual value in a responsible and efficient way.


Maylin Salgado

Vice President of ESG and Global Quality Systems

GA Telesis

Maylin is the Vice President of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) as well as Global Quality Systems at GA Telesis. Her role drives the execution of the ESG strategy by working with internal stakeholders to gather, analyze, and report on various ESG metrics and targets, while also directing and coordinating compliance with all applicable standards across Global Quality Systems.

Maylin began her aviation career in 1998, gaining experience and expertise through industry leaders such as American Composites, Express Jet Services, and Air France/KLM. She progressed from a repair station position into various management roles within the Quality Assurance sector, while strengthening industry relationships. She has been a vital part of the GA Telesis quality team for over 10 years.

Throughout her career, Maylin has been involved in implementing and maintaining various quality standards, including AS 9110, AS 9120, ISO 14001, ASA-100, CAMAC, and AFRA. She is a familiar face throughout the industry and is often called upon for quality guidance and regulatory interpretation. Maylin has served on the AFRA Board of Directors since 2022.


Brian Skrobarcek

Enterprise Vice President, Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability

StandardAero

Brian Skrobarcek is an accomplished sustainability and environmental leader with over three decades of experience. His expertise lies in developing and executing strategic sustainability frameworks, reducing environmental impact, and driving operational excellence in global organizations. With a strong background in environmental science, regulatory compliance, and corporate responsibility, he has led initiatives resulting in significant cost savings, efficiency improvements, and industry recognition.

As Vice President of Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability at StandardAero, Brian is responsible for global environmental compliance, corporate sustainability, and the company’s enterprise-wide Environmental Management System (EMS). Under his leadership, StandardAero has implemented a comprehensive sustainability vision, set ambitious decarbonization goals, and established a roadmap toward net-zero emissions by 2050. His achievements include expanding EMS certifications across more than 50 global locations, reducing Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas intensity by 25% (vs. 2019 baseline), and leading large-scale recycling initiatives, including up to 61 million pounds of fiber materials annually at Vericast.

Prior to StandardAero, Brian held leadership roles at Vericast, Harland Clarke Holdings, Chenega Global Services, Waste Policy Institute, and Earth Tech, Inc., where he contributed to sustainability strategy, compliance, and risk management. He holds a Master of Science in Environmental Science from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. His professional certifications include Certified Sustainability and Resilience Professional, Certified Environmental and Safety Compliance Officer, and ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, among others. Brian has received multiple industry awards and is a recognized thought leader in sustainability and environmental management.


Simon Upton

Chief Operating Officer

Air Salvage International

Simon is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Air Salvage International (ASI), where he is responsible for leading the company’s operational performance, including the Part 145 business and commercial responsibility for GCAM. He oversees aircraft and aircraft-section part-out programmes alongside a portfolio of bespoke initiatives that repurpose redundant aircraft assets, supporting applications ranging from advanced flight simulator environments and aviation training facilities to high-profile film and media productions.

Earlier in his career, Simon gained valuable experience in leadership and delivery within large, complex organisations, providing a strong foundation for his transition into aviation asset management and operational leadership. Since joining ASI, his focus has been on strengthening operational capability while embedding a more customer-centric culture, enabling flexibility, mobility, and productivity across the workforce while working closely with customers and partners to maximise value from redundant commercial aviation assets.

Simon has served on the AFRA Board of Directors for the past three years as part of a collaborative leadership team. During this time, AFRA has continued to grow in scale, reach, and influence—strengthening its global presence, advancing industry standards, and supporting the evolving needs of the aircraft recycling and asset management community. He is keen to continue contributing to the Board as AFRA builds on this momentum.
